But if you're short on time (but you really should watch the webinar!), here are some of the key takeaways from the session:
✅ Tell Your Story Clearly
The most compelling entries have a clear narrative. Judges want to understand who you are, what you do, and why it matters. Start by setting the scene in the Executive Summary — it’s not scored, but it helps give judges crucial context.
✅ Follow the Questions — and Stick to the Word Count
Each category has specific questions. Make sure you answer every one and respect the word limits. Avoid copy-and-pasting from generic marketing material. Judges are looking for content that’s tailored to the award criteria.
✅ Provide Evidence, Not Just Statements
Back up your claims with proof. Think customer feedback, statistics, photos, or examples of new initiatives. For example, don’t just say you improved service — show how, and what the outcome was.
✅ Focus on What’s New
Judges love to hear about innovation, progress and improvement. What have you done differently in the last year? What challenges did you overcome? Highlighting your recent successes helps keep your entry fresh and relevant.
✅ Show Your Commitment to Responsible Tourism
Sustainability, community impact, and inclusion are key judging themes. Make sure your entry reflects your efforts in these areas — whether that’s cutting carbon, supporting local suppliers, or improving accessibility.
✅ Get Someone Else to Read It
Before you submit, ask a colleague to proofread your entry. Fresh eyes can help catch anything you’ve missed and ensure your entry reads clearly and confidently.
✨ Bonus Tip: Watch the Webinar!
It’s packed with real-life examples, helpful do’s and don’ts, and reassuring guidance on what judges are really looking for.
